Hume Park Animal Hospital is a privately owned, progressive animal care hospital, located in New Westminster, BC. Our hospital prides itself on serving our community with high standards, compassionate and efficient care. We are open Tuesday-Saturday 9am-7pm, and only treat dogs and cats. Full-time and Part-time positions are available, and may include Saturday shifts. There is no night or evening shifts.

On all of our workstations, we have fully searchable extensive internal documentation, to help you have all needed information on your fingertips. It serves as a training tool and well as reference tool. There is tools for internal communication, order tracking, inputs, logs and so on. We strive to constantly improve, and encourage all staff to provide their inputs for improvements/corrections. We do not like ambiguity, so everything has well defined protocols. We use a cloud based veterinary practice management software and pride ourselves in having an efficient and smooth workflow.

Veterinary Front-Desk & Office Assistant
Location: New Westminster, BC
Hours: Full-Time & Part-Time
Compensation: $20 – $24/h
Role Overview: As the first point of contact, you are the face of Hume Park Animal Hospital. Your role balances high-level administrative precision with compassionate client care and essential clinical support.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Client Experience: Facilitating a warm, professional environment by greeting clients and patients and managing check-in/check-out seamlessly.
- Financial & Administrative Accuracy: Processing payments with precision, managing document signing, and ensuring all digital and physical records are saved and filed correctly.
- Medical Records: Maintaining comprehensive, up-to-date patient files and taking detailed messages for the medical team.
- Workflow Coordination: Strategically booking appointments to ensure appropriate time allowances for various patient needs.
- Proactive Communication: Managing high-volume phone lines and emails; conducting reminder calls and providing clear pre-operative/post-operative instructions to clients.
- Clinical Support: Assisting Veterinarians and Technicians with safe pet restraint and preparing medications and labels under direct supervision.
- Facility Care: Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the hospital and front-office areas to our high standards.
Qualifications:
• Experience: Previous experience in a veterinary hospital preferred
• Technical Literacy: Proficient in computer systems, ability to learn cloud-based software, and professional email etiquette.
• Communication: Exceptional phone etiquette and the ability to convey complex information clearly and warmly.
• Soft Skills: A resilient, “quick-on-your-feet” problem solver who thrives in a multitasking environment.
• Animal Handling: Must be comfortable and confident handling and restraining both dogs and cats.
Veterinary Technician
Location: New Westminster, BC
Status: Full-Time & Part-Time
Compensation: $23 – $28/h
Role Overview: Our Technicians are integral to our medical success. You will utilize your full range of clinical skills in a protocol-driven environment that values technical excellence and patient advocacy.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
- Clinical Nursing: Providing high-quality nursing care and instructed therapy; managing wound care and bandage applications.
- Diagnostic Imaging & Lab: Producing diagnostic radiographs and collecting/analyzing biological samples to assist in accurate diagnoses.
- Surgical Excellence: Preparing surgical suites, inducing and monitoring anesthesia, and assisting veterinarians during and after procedures.
- Pharmacy & Treatments: Administering vaccines, medications, and prescribed treatments with meticulous attention to dosage and safety.
- Veterinary Dentistry: Performing routine dental prophylaxis (cleaning/polishing) and assisting with complex dental procedures.
- Client Education: Acting as a resource for owners by advising on nutrition, home care, and preventative health.
- Operational Support: Maintaining accurate medical logs and assisting with essential clerical duties as required to ensure a smooth workflow.
Qualifications
• Registration: RVT status is preferred, but experienced Technicians will be considered.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and anesthesia monitoring.
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous record-keeping and log management.
• Collaborative Spirit: A desire to mentor junior staff and contribute to our “protocol-first” culture.
